Hi world. I recently announced that I’m taking the buyout from The Washington Post, where I’ve written a syndicated op-ed column for the past decade. Here is my final column. It is my advice for anyone who might find themselves with a similarly primo platform.

I have another big deadline coming up, as I’m about to give birth. (Or in TV lingo: Both a “cold open” and a “hard out.”) So, I had planned to take a brief parental leave around this time anyway.

If you’re interested in keeping up with my work, I’ll return to anchoring at MSNBC in a couple months (6-9pm Sat/Sun). I will also return to writing around then, though am not ready to announce those details just yet. I’ll share more info on the other side of the whole giving birth thing.
